The Gateway

The Gateway newsletter was published by the Gateway Gender Alliance–also known as the Golden Gate Girls/Guys–a social and educational network of crossdressers and transgender people located in California. This organization was one of the earliest ones to include both transfeminine and transmasculine people. While their main chapter was located in San Francisco, they had a second chapter in San Jose.

Lou contributed to the newsletter by writing articles and serving as an editor from August, 1979, to September, 1980. Here are some of Lou’s articles from the Gateway, presented chronologically by publication date. Most of the articles are unattributed, so it’s possible that Lou contributed much more writing to the newsletter without his name attached to it. Articles that are unattributed, but that were almost certainly written by Lou, are provided here.
